Calvary Temple: A Light in Sterling

Calvary Temple in Sterling, VA has a great desire to affect the Sterling community with the Gospel. The people of Calvary Temple have been praying for many months that their would be a move of God in the Sterling area and throughout the region. We want nothing more than God to be glorified through our lives to such a degree that lives are changed. This is not a heart to build Calvary Temple into some grand ministry. Sure we would like to have people in our community join Calvary Temple and become a part of the family, but our biggest concern is for people to come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Pastor Star R. Scott has shared his desire for Calvary Temple to be a church where people know the presence of God resides here. We know that God no longer dwells in temples made with hands (Acts 7:48), and we know that those who are born again become of the temple of the living God (1 Corinthians 6:19). We, as a people, want to be so full of the presence of God when we come to worship, when we come to fellowship, and when we go to evangelize that people see the presence of God in our lives and desire that same thing.

The only thing that matters in life is the presence of God.Where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17). Where the God visits his glory appears (Exodus 40:34). Where the people come together to worship in one heart and one mind Jesus shows up in a mighty way (Matthew 18:20). Calvary Temple is filled with people who want nothing more than God to be glorified.

These are the truths that teach the children at Calvary Temple three days a week. These are the truths they receive in the Calvary Temple Children’s Ministry. One practical things that we do with the kids to show them the need to be light is to include them in all the outreaches that we conduct. Our kids pass out fliers for the different events. Our kids pray for the kids in the neighborhoods that they live in. We have taken chapels and prayed for these kids by name. Why? So that God’s glory could be seen in our community (Psalms 85:9). What could be better than having kids that love God to such a degree that they win souls? Let there be a generation of kids at Calvary Temple who have such a desire.
